Early December Trip to Jervis Bay

The girls school year ended in early December.  Which is still sort of crazy.  The girls school got out a little bit earlier than the rest of the ACT and NSW (our state and the state closest to us), so we took a trip to Jervis Bay, which was about a three or so hour drive from Canberra.  Jervis Bay is known for sparkling white sand beaches. We decided to rent an airbnb right near Hyams beach. There are a lot of beaches in the bay area. We actually ended up visiting 7 of them in the few short days we were there.  As December is the start of the summer, we were hoping to do a little snorkeling, but unfortunately the weekend we were there it was still a bit on the chilly side and the girls did not last long in the water at all.

Here are some of the highlights from the trip:

Lauren and I took a walk from Greenfield beach to Blenheim beach, and this was our view on the way down to the beach

Callala Beach

We took an afternoon to spend some time at the Woollamia Boat Ramp. I had read that it was good place to see GIANT rays, and it delivered right away. We also saw ducks and pelicans.  It was a fun place to spend a little time.

neat rock pools at Chinaman beach.

Mike and the girls trying out the snorkel gear at Greenpatch beach.

Walking along world famous Hyams beach

Murray Beach.  Only Lauren and I walked down to this one.  It was really beautiful.

Lauren got a skate board that is just purr-fect for her! Meow!

It was a great little trip to the beach.  Would have been a lot nicer if it were hotter out and the girls could have spent more time in the Ocean.  Though during summer we may not have been able to afford the places to stay.

Next time we go, we think we will stay in Huskisson.  We really enjoyed the vibe in that town, and I remember when I was searching for places to stay it seemed more affordable.
